Why are they going to such pains to AltiVec-ize everything?

And why did they discontinue Logic for x86?

I can't understand why they wouldn't opt for that Power4 variant (if the recent rumor is to believed, which I don't think it is). It seems like the perfect chip for Apple.

I'm trying to fix 5 year old Macbook for some one .The problem is hard-drive space used up but the person has very little pictures ,music and work on the computer.

Some how only 7GB free of the 80GB hard-drive.

well normally when I'm trying fix the same problem on PC running windows it is do to.

1.Bad sector
2.swap file /page file
3.hidden OS system support files
4.malware
5.windows files to keep OS running and windows needs lots of files and I mean lots, lots and lots of files!!!

But do not have that much experience here. What could the problem be.

Yea those are jailbreak releated. It seems one of the jailbreaking tools put the files in an odd place than it normally does.

These banners are just supreme. I don't think I remember ever seeing these-- only the "Think Different" ads in magazines way back when.

The "Think Different" campaigns were ingenious, and to think several years later Apple would resort to those awful, mind-numbing "dancing silhouettes" for iPod and the even more mind-numbing "Mac vs. PC" ones to appeal to the masses.

Have you tried it on someone else's computer other than yours, to make sure it's a FF/IE/Safari code issue and not an issue with the settings of FF and IE or of QT on your computer? For instance link it and let us try?

Also, if you force-specify the MIME type by adding:

to the <embed> tag, what happens?

Well yea you're on a Mac forum so you're going to get a lot of Mac replies... which IMO is all you need ;)

But seriously... if you want extreme portability a MBA will do great... the 13 inch ones are slim and have amazing battery life; if you're willing to get the 1.4/1.6ghz dual core instead of a 2.x one (dual), then you should be set. They all have the glass trackpad which is great as well.

Like I posted before though, I would suggest a MBP. They are still very portable and small in size compared to other laptops and have a performance (and build) increase compared to the regular, polycarbonate Macs.

What are you planning on doing with your computer? Where are you taking it? These things would help us out a lot :)

It all depends on what type of case person you may be. I have the satin seethru and the Incase snap out of both of them I prefer the speck seethru but the only major downfall of it is that if you like switching cases offer the soft silicone part starts coming apart from the hard plastic.

Open the Console.app in the Utilities folder. Bring up the context menu on each log listed on the left hand side and hit Reveal in Finder. It is perfectly safe to delete them all. Yes those logs will get MASSIVE. Afterward you should empty the Trash.

And while I will take anychance to bad motuh Dubbya, Global Warming from a scientific (NOT environmentalist) point of view cant be proven.

All the data on global warming is only a few decades old. And over GEOLOGICAL TIME, which is how weather and the way the Earth functions is measured, this is less than a fleeting moment.

So with that in mind, just cuz the last few years have been "hotter" doesnt mean that it will continue that way. As it stands you cant predict global warming anymore than you can predict the coming of the next ice age. It takes too long for permanent changes in the earths environment. How long did it take to go from methane and CO2 to a 28% oxygen atmosphere, ~BILLIONS of years. So 20-50yrs of "global warming" data isnt enough and never will be.

But it cant be ignored that greenhouse gases and all that toxic crap IS BAD FOR THE PLANET.

So your assertation is that since nature takes a long time to make changes on it's own, any changes we make much faster will be OK. That makes sense, insomuch as now i know that the anti-global-warming people just aren't applying any logic anymore.

When I bought my imac years ago, it made a loud, vibrating, squeal right out of the box. It was so long ago, I forget if it was a hard drive or fan. After a couple tries with phone support, I took it back and was given a new one.
